Ottoman patchworks and costumes
Exhibition curated by Elisabeth Strub-Madzar (Turkey)
30 years ago, Elisabeth Strub-Madzar fell in love with
Turkey, its incredible history, culture and people. She
is living in Istanbul and has been spending all these
years deciphering, studying and transposing into her own
textile works all the artistic magnificence which exudes
from this country. She has redrawn the harem “moucharabiehs”
and the sumptuous mosaics found in the palaces. She has
also rejuvenated antic fabrics woven with gold and silver
threads. Come and discover Anatolia’s charms and
the mysteries of the Ottoman Empire revealed by some 30
new works of art.
